Typhoon Bebinca to bring rainstorms over next three days

A tropical depression over the South China Sea intensified into this year’s sixteenth typhoon, named Bebinca as of 2:00 p.m. yesterday, according to the Guangdong Meteorological Bureau. The typhoon is getting stronger as it hovers over the coastal areas.

It is forecasted that this typhoon will initially skirt the West coast of Guangdong, with a wind speed of 65 kilometers per hour. The typhoon will possibly make landfall at night tomorrow, affecting the western part of the Pearl River Delta and some cities and counties in Western Guangdong.

Forecasted typhoon path for the next 120 hours

As is normal with typhoons, parts of Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta are expected to get heavy rain, with localized downpours of more than 100 millimeters possible. Up to three days of continuous heavy rain are expected.

The typhoon will also bring strong winds and heavy rain to the provincial capital,Guangzhou over the next three days.

Please pay extra attention to your surroundings, as torrential rain increases the risk of landslides in rural areas and high winds create the risk of being struck by flying debris. Keep safe and dry!
