“Nansha is located at the geographic center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,” said Xing Hua, a member of Standing Committee of CPC Nansha Committee and head of Nansha’s United Front Work Department, “the district is facing huge opportunities as the cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao SARs, as well as countries along the Belt and Road is increasingly tightened.”

“In the future, Nansha will provide youths from Hong Kong and Macao with more opportunities in fields of people-to-people exchange, internship, entrepreneurship and trade,” said Xing, “we encourage these youths to start their own businesses here and eventually expand to other regions.”

This year’s program attracted more than 600 students to participate in their 4-to-6-week internships in three batches. They will work in Nansha’s major enterprises and organizations, such as banks, hi-tech companies and government departments.

Li Zhuoyan, a student from Hong Kong, started his internship a week ago in Country Garden, a Guangdong-based Fortune 500 enterprise leading in real estate industry. He said he always wanted to try different environments and would consider starting his career in Chinese mainland, especially Nansha.

“I’m now studying in Shandong University, I had an internship in Qianhai and now in Nansha,” said Li Zhuoyan, “I heard of Nansha as a newly developed district before. And through the internship, I found it’s actually developing very well with lots of opportunities. ”

Gao Fei, Chairman of Nansha Youth Federation, said the internship program enables the Hong Kong and Macao youths to blend in the local environment, and showcases the opportunities that they could seize in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area through holding trips to cities including Shenzhen, Foshan and Huizhou.

“In the beginning, we only open to the Hong Kong and Macao students studying at the Jinan University. But now we also accept students directly from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and see more and more students showing interest in the program,” said Gao Fei.

During the event, Nansha Youth Federation and Nansha Governmental Affairs Management Office signed a cooperative agreement to give green light to the Hong Kong and Macao youths who decide to set up their companies in Nansha, and open a special window to offer free and efficient services, such as commercial registration and taxation guidance.
