Contestants from China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, Australia, Italy and many other countries took part in the competition, and American dancers named Ferdinando Iannaccone and Yulia Musikhina, winners of the 2018 Blackpool Dance Festival, were the most anticipated contenders of all at the Latin dancing competition.

Shenzhen Dancing Month is divided into four main parts including top dance competitions, high-skilled dance performances, professional seminars and dance talent training projects. It will be held until July 31.

The World Cup International Style of Ballroom Dancing China Open has been held in Shenzhen for 15 consecutive years, making it the city's most vibrant, historical and long-lasting international dancing cultural event.

The scale of this year’s competition leapt to higher heights with over 5,000 people enrolled to participate. The competition is composed of the International Ballroom Dancing Open and the Junior & Youth Open Championship.

This year’s dancing month, with the theme of "To have a date with dancing in July," is hosted by the Publicity Department of Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC as well as the Shenzhen Literary and Art Association and organized by the Shenzhen Dancers Association.
