
Two pairs of trains will operate between Shenzhen and Zhanjiang in western Guangdong per week after the Jiangmen-Zhan-jiang rail line opened yesterday.
Train D7754/1 from Shenzhen North Railway Station to Zhanjiang West Railway Station will operate every Thursday and Friday. It leaves Shenzhen at 6:39 a.m. and arrives in Zhanjiang at 10:44 a.m., passing through Guangzhou, Xinhui, Kaiping, Yangjiang and Mao-ming. The trip duration is four hours and five minutes, according to a release from Shenzhen North Railway Station over the weekend.
Train D7552/3 operates every Tuesday and Thursday. It leaves Zhanjiang at 4 p.m. and arrives in Shenzhen at 8:03 p.m. The fare to Zhanjiang for D7754/1 is 302.5 yuan (US$45.70) for second-class seats. The fare to Maoming is 255.5 yuan and to Yangjiang is 196.5 yuan.
The opening of the Jiangmen-Zhanjiang rail line marks the start of the high-speed rail era in western Guangdong cities and will bring these cities to the Pearl River Delta economic circle. The trips from Guangzhou to Maoming and Zhanjiang will be reduced to two hours and 27 minutes and two hours and 59 minutes from the present five hours and eight hours.
Thirty pairs of high-speed trains will run along the Jiangmen-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway at the initial stage, including 20.5 pairs between Guangzhou and Zhanjiang.
The operator offers discounts on trains running along the line during the different time periods.
The Jiangmen-Zhanjiang high-speed rail line is part of the 470-kilometer Shenzhen-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway. It consists of the Shenzhen-Maoming and Maoming-Zhanjiang sections. Construction of the Shenzhen-Maoming section will be undertaken in two phases. Construction of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen section is still under way.
