Good news for travelers! From July, passengers can take a high speed train direct from Guangzhou to Fujian’s popular coastal travel destination Xiamen and its capital city Fuzhou, saving a lot of time and trouble.
Currently there are only two direct regular trains running between Guangzhou and Xiamen, the trip itself taking over 12 hours. Express services between the two cities only operate on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday with 2 round trips a day. Passengers currently have to transfer in Shenzhen to take the daily high speed train service.
According to the official ticket purchasing platform 12306,
●From July 1st, direct high speed trains between Guangzhou East and Xiamen will start operating. The total trip takes about 4 and three quarter hours and a second class seat will cost just 255 RMB. The trip will call at Humen, Shenzhen, Huizhou and eastern cities Chaoyang and Chaoshan.
●The Guangzhou South - Fuzhou line (calling at Xiamen North) will begin running from July 2nd. The total trip takes about 4 and a quarter hours, a second class seat costing just 254.5 RMB.
Additional inter city services between Shenzhen and Xiamen, Fuzhou will be operational from July.
