The program has been organized by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, Home Affair Bureau of Hong Kong SAR and Youth Development Commisson. It has offered Hong Kong students more than 1000 internship positions since started in 2015.

As China is dedicated to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area development, the program has changed its name from the Guangdong-Hong Kong internship program into the existing one, aiming to bring in more resources and enable Hong Kong students to experience Guangzhou’s development and its role in the emerging Bay Area.

Lin Jiajun, members of Hong Kong Tertiary Student Alliance who has led the internship program since 2015, said he has seen more students participating in recent years.

“We speak the same language in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. And since the cooperation between thesetwo places has been strengthening rapidly, students are now encountering more opportunities here,” said Lin, ”the internship program will benefit their future career no matter whether in Guangzhou or Hong Kong.”
