Organized by Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited (GPHL), a leading Guangzhou-based pharmaceutical group, the sub-forum attracted over 100 attendants from the government, enterprises and academia, and invited leading practitioners to share both their research outcomes and observations about today’s market.

Yu Jianshe, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Guangzhou Committee, said Guangzhou has been dedicated to the development of IAB industries (chiefly: IT, AI and bio-tech), and that GPHL is one of the city’s a leading IAB enterprises. “We welcome enterprises and investors worldwide to settle in Guangzhou, and cooperate with our local players for substantial development,” said Yu.

He said that the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries have become increasingly popular no matter whether considering domestic or overseas markets, and that they would account for over 15% of China’s GDP in the future.

Liu Changxiao said that medicine has primarily been developed with the aim of curing disease, but that now it should be more about healthcare. Maintaining good health is a growing priority among people of all ages. “The government and enterprises should support with policies, increased industry standards, investment and talent, and boost the development of the healthcare industry,” he said.

During the forum, a number of overseas representatives gave presentations pitching their busines and expressing willingness to cooperate with local enterprises.
