Guangzhou holds annual investment conference to lure global investors

The 2018 Guangzhou Annual Investment Conference (GAIC) keeps rolling on March 28, with 2500 guests from over 1800 enterprises around the world.

Themed of “Guangzhou, Your Best Choice” this year, exchange and cooperation were centered in cutting-edge fields of new generation information technology, artificial intelligence, bio-pharmaceutical (IAB), new energy and new material (NEM), etc.

“The GAIC is a major platform for the city’s opening up and international cooperation, it is also an important window for global investors to know about Guangzhou,” highlighted by Wen Guohui, mayor of Guangzhou in his keynote speech.

Now Guangzhou has investors from 130 countries and regions. 297 of Fortune 500 enterprises have already established 921 projects here, mostly focusing on the pillar manufacturing and modern service industries.

For instance, Foxconn 10.5th Generation Display Eco-industrial Park and Cisco Smart City is enabling a gradual breakthrough of the electronic information technology industry in Guangzhou.

It seems Guangzhou keeps capturing the attention of increasing investors from around the world.

Another ranking also hints that the city is becoming an ideal destination for investment. According to AmCham South China’s 2018 White Paper on the Business Environment in China and 2018 Special Report on the State of Business in South China, Guangzhou ranked as the most popular investment city within a list of 44 cities in China.

Here show some guests’ remarks on why they come to invest in this city as follow.

As the implementation of Guangzhou’s city plan (2017 - 2035), it will make the city the best choice for investment, said Wen Guohui.

Aiming at an attractive, livable flower city and a dynamic global city by 2035, Guangzhou will reinforce its appeal in innovation resources, industrial system, hub functions, business environment, opening-up and urban environment.

In addition to the plenary session, 23 sub-forums were held by Guangzhou’s eleven districts, related departments and leading local enterprises.

For instance, Nansha District held an AI themed sub-forum to highlight its opportunities and achievements in building itself as an AI industrial cluster.
