Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will collaborate with Finnish violinist Elina Vähälä to present Corigliano’s “The Red Violin Concerto.” The orchestra will also play Mahler’s “Symphony No. 5.” Norwegian conductor Eivind Gullberg Jensen will wield the baton.

Vähälä worked as a professor of violin at the University of Music Detmold in Germany from 2009-2012 and since April 2012 she has been a professor at Karlsruhe’s University of Music in Germany.

Philharmonia Quartet

The Philharmonia Quartet Berlin, consisting of Daniel Stabrawa (first violin), Christian Stadelmann (second violin), Neithard Resa (viola) and Dietmar Schwalke (cello), will present Mozart’s “String Quartet No. 8,” Beethoven’s “String Quartet No. 15” and Schumann’s “String Quartet No. 3.” The four musicians all joined the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra around the 1980s.
