On September 17, 40 letters to the CEOs of Fortune Global 500 enterprises were put into a Canton Tower shaped mailbox at the 2017 Guangzhou Fortune Global Forum during the ‘To My Dearest CEOs’ Letter Mailing Ceremony. Over the next few days, dozens of CEOs of Fortune Global 500 enterprises, including the aforementioned CEOs, CEO of Walt Disney Robert Allen “Bob” Iger, CEO of Huawei Ren Zhengfei, CEO of Tencent Ma Huateng and more will receive these letters.
At the Letter Mailing Ceremony, seven Fortune Global Forum messengers shared their letters with attendees at the post station in front of Guangzhou Library. They shared their dreams with and introduce Guangzhou to the CEOs, sincerely inviting them to attend the Fortune Global Forum in Guangzhou this December.
Jessie’s mother told the reporter that Jessie didn’t know much about Fortune Global 500 enterprises before, but after this letter-writing event, she developed an interest in learning more about those enterprises that she recognizes and which have connection with her life. “It has broadend Jessie’s horizons and helped her to realize that writing is very important,” said Jessie’s mom.
Michael from the First Guangzhou Railway Primary School insisted on writing to Bill Gates, because Bill Gates is his idol, although his mother Mrs. Deng told him that Bill Gates has already retired from Microsoft. Mrs. Deng said, “I think it’s not that important whether he can successfully invite a CEO to the event or not. What counts is his participation and getting to know more about society.”
The Fortune Global Forum 2017 is set to take place from Dec. 6 to 8 in Guangzhou. This year’s forum, with the theme ‘Openness & Innovation: Shaping the Global Economy’, will see the attendance of at least 129 of the Fortune Global 500 such as Walmart, Philips, Qualcomm, Ford, FedEx, Cisco, Morgan Stanley, Johnson and Johnson, HSBC, Air Holland, Michelin, Metro, SABIC Innovative Plastics, SAP, Nike, ABInbev, Mitsubishi, and Telecom Italia.

Dear Mr. CEOs of Boing and Airbus,
It’s my greatest honor to write to you. I am a grade-four student of Guangzhou Railway the 1st Primary School. I am also a little host of a daily TV program, Kids English of Guangdong TV. I would like to share my dream with you.
I live near the airport. From when I was very small, no matter day or night, I like to gaze in abstraction at the flying planes in the sky. For many kinds of planes, with a quick glance or even listening for a while, I can tell their model names. My dream is to become a pilot and contribute to the global aviation industry.
Talking about planes, I would like to say something about my home town Guangzhou. Guangzhou Baiyun Airport is one of the 3 largest international airports in China. China Southern Airline, headquartered in Guangzhou, has the largest passenger volume and the most planes in Asia. If China is the main engine of the global economy, Guangzhou is one of the most important part of the engine.
Guangzhou is developing airport economy with its full strength, welcoming the world’s top 500 enterprises with the most favorable policies, targeting to build a great international airline hub. In the near future, Baiyun Airport will increase its terminal from 1 to 3, and its runways from 3 to 5.
Guangzhou has a long history of bringing up manufacturing talents. The first made-in-China plane was built in Guangzhou as early as 1911. Guangzhou is a very important manufacturing base and motor city of China. It’s the Detroit of Southern China. Guangzhou also has the best universities of Southern China, providing thousands and thousands of manufacturing talents every year.
If your enterprise plans to make airplanes in Guangzhou, I want to be one member of your team and perform test-fly for the newest airplane models. Maybe one day in the future, with the clapping and cheering across the globe, the 1st big solar energy plane in the world, will take off from Guangzhou Biayun Airport and soar into the sky. And I will be the pilot in the plane waving hand to the big crowd.
The 2017 Fortune Global Forum will be held in Guangzhou during Dec 6-8. Look forward to your visit to this promising city. It will be an amazing start for your fortune, and an amazing start for my dream. Thank you!

I would like to taste delicious shrimp dumplings with you as well as travel with you on the Pearl River on a special tour boat – the Red Boat, which has a wonderful mobile stage where we can admire the Pearl River while watching a traditional Cantonese opera.

A Letter to Mr. CEO of Walmart
Dear Mr. McMillon,
I am Cher, a sixth-grader in Guangzhou. I am also one of the customers of Walmart and I love shopping at Walmart. Fortune Global Forum will be held in Guangzhou in this December. It is an important business platform. I’d like to invite you to the forum and my hometown, Guangzhou. There are a number of reasons why you should come. I am happy to introduce Guangzhou to you.
Guangzhou is definitely worth visiting. Guangzhou is evergreen all the year around and hence called Flower City. Pearl River cuts through the city. It is pretty beautiful and amazing.
Guangzhou has a lot of delicious Cantonese dim sum (Chinese style snacks) that attracts a whole bunch of visitors. Here’s a menu for you to try when you visit Guangzhou: Fish Ball, Egg Custard Tart, Steamed Shrimp Dumpling, Pork Porridge. Try all of them and you’ll enjoy and be amazed.
To think that there are soooo… many people, Guangzhou might be a huge market for you and Walmart. I bet you’ll like it. Plus, I think people are very happy to shop at Walmart in Guangzhou.
