Fifty ZTE Smart Auto buses to carry tourists in Guangzhou

Sanzao-based ZTE Smart Auto Corp received an order from a Guangzhou company for 50 electric passenger buses on Aug 22. This marks another milestone for the company as it grows in the market of first-tier Chinese cities.

The deal was signed with a Guangzhou passenger transport enterprise involved in group tourism.

The specially designed vehicles are capable of a 200-km battery range. To reduce curb weight, the vehicles have a block-based and light design with high-strength steel and aluminum auto body -- an industry-leading technology. It can significantly extend driving range at lower costs, according to a project head.

In addition, the firm has well-furnished buses for smart operations. This utilizes the advantages of its parent company. ZTE Corp, founded in 1985 and listed on both the Hong Kong and Shenzhen stock exchanges, is a multinational telecommunications equipment and systems enterprise.

Intelligent driving assistance systems, interconnected monitoring terminals, and intelligent Wi-Fi cloud platforms have been installed onboard for a safer and more comfortable experience.

Such innovations earned recognition in the Shenzhen market earlier this year, and the company wants to build market share in Beijing and Shanghai, according to a company executive.

Engaged in developing and manufacturing new-energy city buses, group tour coaches, commuter and special vehicles, the company has expanded sales in more than 30 countries and regions. It has achieved strategic partnerships with international companies such as Chitluen Ltd, a Hong Kong-based land transport services provider, and Alexander Dennis Ltd (ADL), Britain's leading bus and coach manufacturer.

Next, the company will focus on lightweight bodies, electrification of power assemblies, and ride and drive intelligent internetworking. Relying on ZTE's 107 branches in more than 160 countries and regions, the company has continued to produce high-quality buses while providing intelligent integrated transportation solutions and services at a higher level.

ZTE Smart Auto was established and registered in Jinwan District on July 28 last year.

The ZTE Smart Car Manufacturing Base headquartered in Sanzao Town of Jinwan is under construction over two phases. After the 40-hectare first-phase project is operational, annual production of 10,000 new energy buses is forecast. With completion of the second phase, the project will realize annual turnover of 20,000 new-energy buses and 10,000 special buses. The base will also meet production conditions of new-energy passenger cars, according to the company.
