Plans of Huawei's global headquarters unveiled

The plans for a land parcel in the Bantian area, which is believed to be the location of Huawei’s global headquarters, were unveiled by the city’s urban planning, land and resources commission Aug. 5, according to sznew.com.

According to the plans, offices and greenbelts will be built on the 1.5-million-square-meter tract in Longgang District, while R&D office buildings will occupy at least 1 million square meters of the land.

Supporting facilities on the land will include a water supply plant, a transformer substation, rainwater collection and disposal equipment, bus stations, gas stations, refuse transfer stations, public charging stations, community clinics and sports venues.

The size of the greenbelts on the land should be larger than 60 hectares and buildings near the woods and hills should be less than 40 meters tall. Environmental impact assessments should be done before the construction work near Gangtou Reservoir is under way.

The industrial-use land parcel located between Jihe Express and Gangtou Reservoir is believed to be the location of Huawei’s global headquarters that has been planned for the same area.

According to the report, Huawei’s global headquarters in Shenzhen will consist of its global finance center, business management center, investment management center, chip design center, innovative R&D center, software center and other technological research centers.

As the brain of Huawei, the headquarters is expected to have a positive influence on the upstream-downstream industries in the area.
