New Guangdong Culture Center to improve public cultural service

In a 530-square meter exhibition room, you can view several hundreds of intangible cultural heritages from Cantonese, Hakka and Chaoshan subgroups of the Han nationality as well as several minorities in Guangdong.

Rich and colorful intangible cultural heritages are displayed in diversified forms, such as live performance of ancient instruments, sample tasting of herbal tea and preserved fruits, screening of intangible cultural heritage theme movies, three-dimensional exhibits, photos and text introduction.

This is the permanent Exhibition of Guangdong’s Intangible Cultural Heritage on the second floor of the new Guangdong Culture Center, located in No. 1229 Guangzhou Dadao Zhong.

The exhibition is open to the public for free at 9:30-11:30 & 14:30-17:30 from Tuesday to Sunday, closed on Mondays. You can go to the official website of Guangdong Culture Center (www.gdsqyg.com) or follow its official WeChat account (ID: gdswhg) to make a reservation for your visiting (both are in Chinese).

Apart from the intangible cultural heritage exhibition, a photo exhibition about the 60th anniversary of Guangdong Culture Center’s establishment is also being held on the first floor of the Center and will last until August 15, showcasing its 60-year’s history and achievements.

Guangdong Culture Center was established in 1956, and was once located in several different places. In the end of 2015, it was relocated to the new and current address, and now fully opens to the public after a year of trial operation.

The Center offers public cultural service throughout the year, and the new Guangdong Culture Center provides sufficient and customized venues for that, including exhibition hall, cultural and leisure district, piano room, dram creation area, dance practice area, art and calligraphy creation area, multimedia reading area, and muti-function classroom.

Fang Jianhong, Director General of the Department of Culture of Guangdong Province, pointed out in his speech at the launching ceremony of the “open day” activity, that the new Guangdong Culture Center will set a good example for the culture centers in the province and continue to provide excellent cultural service to the public.
