The 2017 Canton Tower Science & Technology Conference — Global Mobile Developer Conference and Artificial Intelligence Summit will be held in Guangzhou between Oct 12 and 13, to present the latest information and technology in the industry including Internet plus, sharing economy, and VR/AR, etc.
Apart from the AI summit and 12 parallel forums to cover topics such as the global trend for VR/AR products, cloud platform and big data, this year's conference will invite brain research teams from MIT and Stanford University for professional discussions with local companies, said Zhu Dongfang, vice president of IDG China, organizer of the event.
Guangzhou is chosen to host the conference due to its rapid development in the field of AI.
According to Wang Guilin, director of Guangzhou Science & Technology and innovation Commission, Guangzhou has launched several policies to support the city’s AI industry development, one of important sectors of the IAB plan. (IAB stands for Information Technology/Information Communication Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Biopharmaceutical).
For instance, the city will offer a ten-billion RMB industry investment fund, establish a 3000-mu (200.1 hectares) of AI industrial park and one international AI research institute in Nansha. “The conference will boost the city’s scientific and technological development by attracting a number of talents and enterprises in the field,” Wang added.
In the two-day conference of 2016, more than 100 technology leaders and elites from well-known enterprises of the Internet industry made keynote speeches, and 50 famous investors were involved in the project docking, the number of participants reached more than 8000 people.
