The 18th Greater Pearl River Delta Culture Cooperation Meeting was held in Foshan, Guangdong Province from June 1 to 2, 2017. During the meeting, three memorandums of intent were signed to promote “Belt and Road” cultural exchange, youth cultural exchange, and youth theatrical exchange among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

This is an active response to the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation completed recently, and a further promotion of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao youth cultural exchange.

It is reported the Greater Pearl River Delta Culture Cooperation Meeting was a cooperative mechanism established by the Department of Culture of Guangdong Province, Home Affairs Bureau of Hong Kong SAR Government, and Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR Government in 2002. It is held by the three departments in turn.

In the past 15 years, this cooperative mechanism has set up a platform for exchange and cooperation on performing arts and talent, cultural information, cultural relic and museum, public library, inheritance and protection of intangible cultural heritage, and cultural creative industry.

Since the signing of the “Greater Pearl River Delta Cultural Exchange and Cooperation Development Plan 2014-2018 between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao” and the 15th Greater Pearl River Delta Culture Cooperation Meeting in 2015, Guangdong has sent 17,168 people to Hong Kong and Macao for cultural exchange, about 170 collaborative projects have been achieved by the three regions, and a series of cultural exchange activities have been carried out.

It’s worth mentioning that the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cultural Life Map” (粤港澳文化生活电子地图) is an APP jointly launched under the framework of the cooperative mechanism by the Department of Culture of Guangdong Province, Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong SAR Government, and Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR Government. This APP offers geographical location and activity information of museums, libraries, theaters and cultural relics in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. Services include fixing position, searching, transportation guide, online ticketing and so on. Currently, the APP only has Chinese version and can also be used on WeChat.
