Guangzhou brought its promotion for Fortune Global Forum to the Lion City

Yesterday (April 27), Guangzhou, the host city for 2017 Fortune Global Forum which will be held this December, brought its promotion seminar for the forum to Singapore, inviting companies in the Lion City to participate the forum.

Cai Chaolin, Guangzhou’s Vice Mayor, delivered a keynote speech. Over 250 representatives from Top 500 companies in Singapore, local industrial leaders, Singapore government, as well as Guangzhou companies and Fortune Magazine took part in the seminar.

The seminar began with its 5-minute promo video. The video, named “Guangzhou, Flower City in Bloom”, showcases an artistic, international and high-tech Guangzhou with beautiful environment and happy life.

Later, Cai introduced Guangzhou’s investment and business environment to Singapore companies, taking the example of Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City. At present, Guangzhou’s GDP is more or less equal to that in Singapore. Also with its facilitating transportations and forward-looking plans on developing information technology, artificial intelligence and biomedicine (IAB), Guangzhou is waiting for a even bright future Now Guangzhou, together with cities in Pearl River Delta including Hong Kong and Macao, is sparing no efforts to construct Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Cai also indicated that since the first Fortune Global Forum was held in Singapore, the forum now has developed itself as a high-level platform to gather top talents worldwide and promote globalization and free trade development. Entrepreneurs in Singapore are warmly welcomed to take part in the forum.

According to the latest statistics, in 2016 the trade turnover between Guangzhou and Singapore hit 14.04 billion RMB (2.12 billion USD), among which the total amount of importing from Singapore was 4.96 billion RMB (750 million USD) and that of exporting to Singapore was 9.08 billion RMB (1.37 billion USD).

By the end of 2016, the number of Singapore-invested companies in Guangzhou has reached 552, with the FDI of 2.73 billion USD. The number of Guangzhou-invested companies in Singapore was 25, with the invest amount of 190 million USD.
