It’s a huge market with over 14 million permanent residents,” said Wen Guohui, Deputy Secretary of Guangzhou CPC Committee and Mayor of Guangzhou, “and it’s also a dynamic city with an annual GDP growth of 8.2 percent which is equal to Hong Kong and Singapore. ”

“I have deep connection with Guangzhou as I studied here in the South China University of Technology near 40 years ago,”said Li Dongsheng, Chairman and CEO of TCL, “however, Guangzhou is little like the past. Guangzhou shows potentials in high-tech and advanced industries

Technological innovation is one of the keyword of today’s session. According to the Guangzhou municipal commission of Commerce, Guangzhou will develop as an international trade city focusing on intelligent industries as finance, bio-medicine, new energy and etc.

The Innovation Cluster Zone in Pazhou has now attracted 16 internet giants with 60 billion yuan investment, and it will develop into an internet industrial cluster worth over hundreds of billions of yuan.

“IDG has invested in Baidu and Tencent, which are both Shenzhen-based internet giants, and we believe the next generation of “BAT” (Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent) will pop up here in Guangzhou,” said Hugo Shong, Global Chairman of IDG Capital.

“China’s BAT is now more focusing on the domestic market. But the next generation of BAT will be more internationalized and competitive as well around the world.”

Apart from the technological innovation capacity, Hugo Shong also praised the medical industry in Guangzhou and said IDG is looking for opportunities to invest in related local talents.
