French National Day celebrated in Guangzhou

The French Consulate in Guangzhou held a reception in Sofitel Hotel to celebrate the 2018 French National Day on Friday (July 13).

“2018 couldn’t have started better for the Franco-Chinese relationship,” remarked Siv Leng Chhuor, Consul General of France in Guangzhou.

On the first half of the year, the President of France and the French Prime Minister, have successively visited China, which have given a new impetus to the bilateral relationship.

“Going further into 21st century’s partnership means deepening and expanding it to new areas such as agribusiness, environment, creative industries, innovation and digital revolution. It’s no coincident that the Prime minister’s visit, a few weeks ago, started in Shenzhen.”Chhuor added.

Li Chunsheng, Vice Governor of the Guangdong Province indicated that Guangdong and France have maintained close cooperation in economy and trade, science and technology, education and many other fields.

“On June.29th, the Sino-French joint project – Guangdong Taishan Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 Reactor began to generate electricity to the grid, became the first 3G EPR reactorsuccessfully connected to the grid in the world”, Li exemplified during his remark. He also expected Guangdong and France can explore new cooperation channels and models in new fields under the background of Guangdong- Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area construction.

During the reception, a delightful selection of French wines, food entertained the guests. The authentic French music performances brought the attendances a cozy Friday night.
