British Consulate General in Guangzhou celebrates the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II

A celebration of the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II was held by British Consulate General in Guangzhou on June 26th at Canton Tower.

“The U.K. is an important European trading partner for Guangdong,” said Chen Liangxian, Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province. “economic ties and trade between Guangdong and the U.K. have continued to be strengthened and cooperation improved.”

According to Mr. Chen, the trade volume between Guangdong and the U.K. now amounts to 122.3 billion RMB, accounting for about one quarter of the total trade between China and the U.K.

“Bilateral partnership will be strengthened with the development of Belt and Road Initiative and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the future.”

“The U.K. has a strong friendship with local government, businesses and a strong people-to-people exchange in Southern China,” said Karen Maddocks, British Consul General in Guangzhou. “The U.K. will continue to intensify our partnership with China to cope with the global challenge.”

Ms. Maddocks indicated that both two sides will strengthen cooperation in the fields of cancer treatment, plastic pollution and more in the future.

At present, China Southern Airlines is operating a direct flight from Guangzhou to London five times a week with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
