Exquisite Ecuador conquers the tastes of South China

The Commercial Office of Ecuador in PRO ECUADOR in Guangzhou, in cooperation with the “Longyatt Hotel” of the city of Foshan - South China, conducted the launching of the Gastronomic Festival "Exquisite Ecuador ", which opened its doors on May 28th of this year.

The Ecuadorian dishes that will be presented to the dinner guests from the South of China for a period of three months, have been created by the hands of the experienced Ecuadorian chef Mr. José Luis Molestina. According to the chef from Guayaquil, whom travelled to Foshan city to create and share his knowledge and expertise about Ecuadorian cuisine and use of the Ecuadorian products to local chefs.

The opening event was attended by important businessmen, local chefs, associations, and chambers of commerce from the industry of food, drinks and catering service from Guangdong province, who could not only taste Ecuadorian dishes, but also were able to appreciate live cooking demonstrations where the Chef Molestina presented different techniques of preparation of the gastronomy of the country.

The Ecuadorian buffet that is offered to the Chinese dinner guests during the Gastronomic Festival “Exquisite Ecuador” consists of seven appetizers, twelve main dishes, seven desserts, typical beverages and cocktails, all based on Ecuadorian products that are currently commercialized in the Chinese market.

One of the dishes that received the most acclamations was the Ecuadorian Shrimp Ceviche, taking into consideration that the shrimp is one of the products that the commercial office has emphasized, and aims to potentiate its exports. Its delicious flavor and the exotic mix from products adapted to the Chinese taste, received very good approval from the dinner guests.

According to Mr. Paúl Peñaherrera, Director of the Commercial Office of Ecuador in Guangzhou, this festival aims to position and increase the exports of high quality products from Ecuador in the market, as well as to introduce the best from the Ecuadorian gastronomy to the habitants from the South China. The positioning strategy in cities such as Foshan, is part from the market diversification and actors that the country is targeting in order to strengthen its participation in the Chinese market.

The Gastronomic Festival “Exquisite Ecuador” will be running till the month of September, where it is expected to reach exposure of at least 20,000 people that could learn and taste more from the gastronomy of Ecuador.
