Consulate General of Israel in Guangzhou celebrates 70th Independence Day

The 70th Independence Day of Israel was celebrated in Guangzhou on May 25th in Guangzhou.

“Bilateral relations have maintained a sound development on the whole since China and Israel established diplomatic ties 26 years ago,” said Li Yiwei, Deputy Secretary-General of People’s Government of Guangdong Province. “Guangdong is one of the first provinces in China to carry out exchanges and cooperation with Israel.”

“Our economies are highly complementary to each other and enjoy huge potential for cooperation,” He added. “The two sides can strengthen the connection under the Belt and Road Initiative with focus on science and technological innovation, education and culture and more.”

Li stressed that Guangdong will be devoted to high-quality and modernized economic development system to usher in a new phase of opening up in all aspects.

“The relationship between Israel and China is enhancing in the past few years,” Nadav Cohen, Consul General of Israel in Guangzhou indicated. “I hope that the two countries make more great achievement and cooperation in the future.”

According to Nadav Cohen, Guangdong Province is one of the most important trade partners, as almost a fifth of the trade between Israel and China is from the area.

Furthermore, direct flight between Guangzhou and Tel Aviv will be launched on August 2nd this year. According to Hainan Airlines, the air route will operate three times a week using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

People from Israel can visit China through applying for ten-year visa. According to the agreement signed by China and Israel in 2016, visitors will be able to stay in China for 90 consecutive days, with multiple entries.
