Myanmar doctors separate conjoined twin boys

Myanmar doctors have successfully performed a surgical operation to separate a Siamese twins at the Children's Hospital in Yangon, an official report said on Monday.

The operation was carried out on Sunday on the twins -- Sa Hkam and Sa Ngin, who were born in Kengtung, eastern Shan state two years ago.

The boys were joined at the navel.

It was the sixth surgical operation on conjoined twins at the hospital.

Myanmar has made achievements in medical field in recent years. In April, a man's hand, which was cut off at the wrist by a sword attack, was re-attached in the Nay Pyi Taw Hospital.

The re-attachment surgery was the first in the capital's hospital, performed by a team of local medical experts.

The successful re-attachment of a limb was also the fourth in Myanmar.
