According to the Ministry of Public Security of China, China and France have agreed on the mutual recognition agreement of driving license yesterday, Feb 22.
China and France will allow holders of valid driving licenses issued by either authority to drive directly or obtain driving permits without an additional test, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) said.
The permitted types include medium bus (more than 10, less than 19 seats), large bus (more than 20 seats), cars (less than 9 seats) and motorcycle.
According to the agreement, people who hold French driving license and stay in China less than 3 months can renew Chinese temporary driving license with certified translation directly, with no need for body check and examination.
For the overseas students and diplomatic personnels who hold French driving license in China, they can renew Chinese driving license directly without examination.
For the French driving license holders who live more than one year in China, they can renew Chinese driving license with certified translation, passport, visa or residential permit without examination. However, that could apply to car and motorcycle.
It is said that the agreement will take effect 90 days after completing the legal process of the two countries.
China has signed the mutual recognition agreement of driving license with Beglium and United Arab Emirates so far.
