This year, Shangri-La is partnering with Ai You Foundation to help at least 100 orphaned and financially disadvantaged children with developmental dislocation diseases under the “Ai You Morning Star Project”. The project focuses on helping children with diseases that have favourable prognosis. Ai You Foundation is a 5A-level foundation registered in China and is engaged in child health care, child welfare and venture philanthropy.
“We are pleased to work with the Ai You Foundation on this “mobile” charity drive. I am also very proud that 30 of our Shangri-La hotels have taken the initiative to come together in a very memorable and meaningful way to support the Foundation’s work. By riding through more than 25 cities in Mainland China and in Hong Kong, and through the various social media channels, we want to raise more public awareness of these special children’s needs,” said Charlie Dang, Shangri-La’s Executive Vice President – Operations, East & South China. “We deeply appreciate the generosity and support of all our colleagues, partners, cyclists, sponsors and participating Shangri-La hotel guests and consumers for this project. Their contribution will help to make a huge difference to the lives of these special needs children.”
Zhenzhen Luo, Assistant Secretary General of Ai You Foundation, said, “We are honoured to partner with Shangri-La. Their support will enable our orphaned and children with degenerative diseases to receive effective treatments to help them lead normal lives. Bike riding is a unique way to raise more awareness and engage consumers to support the Ai You Morning Star Project. We appreciate the opportunity to explore such an innovative way of improving the lives of vulnerable children and partnering with companies and the public to solve social problems together.”
The Ride for Hope 3 is organised by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. The event is sponsored by Perfect China Group Co., Limited. As the major sponsor, Perfect China is committed to strengthening their support to sustainability and public health by contributing to meaningful causes.
The Ride for Hope 3 programme aims to recruit 5,000 volunteer cyclists along the four routes. Interested persons wishing to join the ride can register at any of the 30 Shangri-La hotels and pay a participation fee of RMB200 each. The Ride for Hope 3 will also engage consumers via online charity sales. In addition to charity galas, media events will be hosted by participating hotels to raise public awareness. Part of the entry fees and charity sales revenues collected will go towards Ai You Foundation and benefit children who have enrolled in the Ai You Morning Star Project.
