2018 China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo opening in September

The 2018 China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo (hereinafter referred to as CITIE 2018) will kicked off on September 7 to 9.

On the press conference on 25th, the Tourism Administration of Guangzhou Province introduced the latest news and highlights of the CITIE 2018, and announced that CITIE 2018 will be held in the Zone A of the China Import and Export Fair Complex.

The CITIE 2018 covers a total area of 100,000 square meters. With the development idea of “new tourism, new integration and new opportunities”, CITIE 2018 set up 10 halls, including the Belt and Road International Tourism Hall, China Holistic Tourism Hall, Tourism Hypermarket Hall, Tourism Gifts and Time-honored Brands Hall, the arts & crafts fair of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the F&B supplies fair, the fair of tableware, coffee and food, the fair of hotel room amenities, the smart hotel fair and the fair of hotel furniture and textile fabrics. By taking the brand new destination image display, forward-looking think tanks forum, diverse social activities and experiential tourism market and multiple other scenarios as breakthroughs, CITIE 2018 will fully present the current new tourism industry in China, lead the tourism industry to innovate and foster new tourism consumption hotspots to jointly build and share the tourism development results brought by the “One Belt and One Road".

CITIE 2018 will present the following new features:

First, the all-for-one tourism realizes an overall development, and the "tourism + culture" has become a new hot spot. “Tourism + Culture”: firstly introduce arts and crafts elements; newly add the 5.2 arts & crafts fair of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and hold the first arts & crafts fair of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area jointly with Guangqing Holding Group to show the new integrated element of “tourism + culture”. In the fair, many fine arts and crafts with traditional characteristics of Guangdong will be displayed, such as the Duan Inkstone, Shiwan Figures, Chaozhou faience, woodcarving, Guangdong embroidery, Kwon-Glazed Porcelain, jade carving, ivory carving, bone carving, miniature sculpture, miniature book, wheat straw patchwork and red clay teapot and classical furniture made in Guangzhou. According to reports, the artworks of this expo are fine work of art produced by craft masters and senior industrial artists at the national, provincial and municipal level from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.

“Tourism + Education”: build the “Tourism + Education” study travel themed exhibition jointly with Guangdong Study Travel Association to fully display the provincial study travel demonstration base and study travel product resources;

“Tourism + Food”: hold the German Beer Festival, and set up the Lingnan Food Studio and the themed exhibition of Bocuse World Cooking Competition to wonderfully present world fashion dining elements.

Second, the “One Belt and One Road” results are highlighted, and new tourist destinations of Panama, Lithuania and Tanzania are unveiled.

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Panama, the Panamanian Ministry of Tourism will organize local tourism institutions and enterprises to participate in the CITIE for the first time. Lithuania, the European Geographic Center and Tanzania, the Pearl of East Africa, will also be invited to participate in the CITIE for the first time. The Saipan of Mariana Islands, Tonga of Pacific Islands, Malaysian Islands, the Guangzhou Diving Enthusiasts Association and China Scuba Diving will form the “Luxury Island Diving Tourism Exhibition Area” to bring the latest information on diving destinations to the industry and bring diving learning information to the public. In Addition, the “Exhibition Area of Silk Road Tourism Destinations” will provide unique and fresh tourism information, tourism features and tourism services.

Third, the theme activities are carefully planned, and the new tourism elements such as Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, are presented splendidly. CITIE 2018 will hold more than 20 professional supporting activities such as the Guangdong Tourism Promotion Conference, the 4th China (Guangdong) International MICE Exchange Conference and hotel supplies summit forum. 21 prefecture-level cities in Guangdong Province, as well as Hong Kong and Macao, will participate in CITIE 2018. Guangdong Shaoguan Tourism Bureau will hold a “Themed Tourism Day” to promote Shaoguan tourism image and tourism resources and enhance the international popularity and reputation of the tourism industry; Guangdong Zhanjiang Tourism Bureau jointly with such Beibu Gulf cities as Haikou and Liuzhou will organize a tourism exchanges seminar to publicize and promote city brands and scenic spots, enhance its popularity in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area; representatives from Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Macau Government Tourist Office and the Hong Kong Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions will attend CITIE 2018 along with more than 30 persons from local scenic spots and hotels.

It is known that the Hong Kong Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions has 30 members from Hong Kong, Macau and neighboring regions. Among them, the founding members include Hong Kong's nine major tourist attractions of AsiaWorld-Expo, Future Leisure, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Noah's Ark Theme Park, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, Ngong Ping 360, Ocean Park, Sky 100 Hong Kong Observation Deck and Peak Tram and Peak Tower.
