How Guangdong attract international outlet to invest in?

Guangzhou-Foshan Florentia Village

Florentia Village located at the border of Guangzhou and Foshan, and it is the first pure Italian-style high-end discount shopping center in south China. Florentia Village marks the first year anniversary milestone of its Guangzhou-Foshan center this month.

After Beijing-Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou-Foshan center is the third center in China. RDM Asia, the operator and international management company of Florentia Village Luxury Designer Outlets in China, has announced its continued expansion across Greater China after strong financial performance in 2016.

The consolidated Beijing-Tianjin, Shanghai, and Guangzhou-Foshan centers have generated a total turnover of RMB5.5 billion. The company also welcomed a total of 11 million shoppers who visited their designer outlets in 2016.

RDM Group Chairman and CEO Jacopo Mazzei

RDM Group Chairman and CEO Jacopo Mazzei said in the conference, “Florentia Village Guangzhou-Foshan’s successful first year of operations has proven our company’s ability to provide a unique Italian shopping experience through unparalleled brand mix, high-quality service, and remarkable discounted offers of up to 80-percent all year-round. We will leverage on this success as we enter new markets across Greater China- reaching Hong Kong, and Mainland China’s Western and Central regions.”

He added, “We are very optimistic about the Chinese market and remain confident in the passion of local consumers for shopping high-quality brands. We believe that China will become the world’s largest outlet market in near future and we want to be in the forefront of maximizing this opportunity.”

Jacopo Mazzei told why they choose to invest in Guangdong in the exclusive interview, “Guangzhou is one of the most potential city in Asia. And after Beijing, Shanghai, it is also the third top city of China. Guangzhou-Foshan center is a mid- and long term project. It is also the center of south China.”

“According to the consumer research statistics when establishing this project, in this Guangzhou-Foshan center, 30 percent of consumers from Guangzhou, 70 percent from Foshan and the surrounding cities. In addition, the young consumer group plays the main role in the Guangzhou-Foshan center. The data show that the main consumer groups concentrated in the 26 to 45 years old, especially the 1980s. In addition, "The 1990s consumer groups accounted for nearly 30 percent.

The consumption concept among Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou-Foshan is different.

"In contrast to the other cities, consumers in Guangzhou and Foshan prefer casual, sporting and fashion brands, including Adidas, Clarks, Gap, IT, Lee, Levis, New Balance, Puma, Tommy H ilfiger, Vans, and etc.

When asked how Florentia Village outstand from many other characteristic town in Guangdong, Jacopo said, “The mian function of Florentia Village is shopping. In order to make up for lack of family consumption, the Guangzhou-Foshan Florentia Village is developing a 3500 square meters area, to build a muti-function area, Bella Vita, which including dining, home entertainment, to attract more family consumer groups.”

Jacopo said that the center will also introduce Guangdong region's food culture. More food brand will move in, including the Hong Kong-style cafes, and Cantonese-style restaurants.

In February 2017, Florentia Village expects to open its outlet center in Hong Kong – the first outside Mainland China. Subsequently, other outlet centers in Wuhan and Chengdu are expected to unveil in mid and late 2017, respectively. It also plans to open in Chongqing by 2018.
