The press conference mainly focused on pandemic-related topics like receiving vaccines, inbound and outbound travels during the upcoming holiday, cold-chain product management, and buying antipyretics, fever reducing medicine, online.

Here are the important details:

Q: If I want to travel during the holiday, where can I go?

A: Trips within the city and other regions inside the province are highly recommended. Guangzhou will continue to impose the ‘75%’ policy, that is, the maximum visitor capacity in the scenic spots, theaters, opera houses, internet cafes, KTVs, and bars, etc.

Q: If I had a fever during the holiday, can I buy antipyretics online? Does it still need real name registration?

A: Yes, Guangzhou will strictly carry out a real name registration system in drugstores for buying medicines to treat symptoms like cough and fever. Antipyretics can be bought online, but can’t be delivered offline. You need to go the store with ID to collect.

Q: How about the overseas inbound travellers to Guangdong during the holiday?

A: The ‘14+7’ policy, that is, 14-day quarantine in designated venues + 7-day medical observation in the community, will stay unchanged for inbound arrivals. They also have to be tested for COVID-19 at least 4 times after entering Guangdong.

Q: Is it safe to buy cold-chain products for the New Year dinner from the local stores and market halls?

A: Yes, the cold-chain product, a major carrier for imported coronavirus, will be under whole-process and close-loop regulation. Without 4 required certificates, products will not be allowed to be on sale. Cross-region centralized supervisory warehouses have already been put into use in the province, and before shipping to the market, multiple nucleic acid tests will be conducted to make sure it’s absolutely safe.

Q: When can the general public get vaccinated against the coronavirus given the anticipated travel rush?

A: The general public in low-risk areas does not need to get vaccinated yet. Guangzhou started the vaccination across the province on December 1st, 2020. As of January 17th, 2021, more than 2, 070, 000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been used and 194, 000 key group personnel have received their first shot at one of 261 vaccination designated hospitals in the city.

Q: Can I send my children to interest classes or after-school training centers during the holiday?

A: As long as those off-campus centers meet the requirement of pandemic prevention and control, they won’t be shut down during the holiday. However, they will be strictly monitored to keep the students and parents safe.
