Moses Mo-yung

When Moses Mo-yung, a post-80’s Hong Konger, began his international business and sought his dreams in Shenzhen one year after his graduation from City University of Hong Kong, he might have never thought that one day he would have opportunities to help those dream-seekers in Qianhai, most of who focus on innovative industry, to fulfill their dreams.

Now Moses has been doing this for over 2 years.

From a dream-seeker to an entrepreneur-helper, Moses has witnessed Shenzhen’s industrial transformation and upgrading, and also experienced how Hong Kongers embraced the shift and participated in the merging industries in Shenzhen.

In 2013 Moses came to Shenzhen as an entrepreneur. He started a company and exported “made-in-Shenzhen” electronic products to South American, such as Venezuela and Costa Rico. Also, mobile accessories such as mobile phone shells, battery chargers and earphones were also included. All those products were from electronic devices factories in Shenzhen.

At that time Shenzhen was globally famous for its electronic manufacturing. At that time factories in Shenzhen, or even in the whole Pearl River Delta, were busy dealing with orders from giant mobile-manufacturing companies such as Apple and Sumsung.

However, this was not a long-term plan. Shenzhen, or even the whole Guangdong province wanted to change the image of “world factory” and was eager to develop those technologies themselves.

Policies have been enforced and funds have been injected to boost R&D and innovation, and help the province’s process of industrial transformation and upgrading. Gradually, Huawei, DJI and many other “made-in-Guangdong” products have won the hearts of global consumers.

Inevitably, Moses has been influenced by this trend. He changed his work in 2015. Now working as the Executive in SZ-HK cooperation for Qianhai HOUDE Entrepreneur Incubator, Moses and his team in Qianhai Free Trade Zone have helped over 50 start-up teams in the past 2 years.

Most of those start-up teams are innovative-industry-related, including mobile games, big data, internet financial services and so on. About half of these teams are from Hong Kong, just like Moses.

Moreover, Moses introduced that HOUDE has a strong connection with Hong Kong universities, and they have plans to bridge students from Hong Kong and the mainland market. On one hand, they can provide students opportunities to get training and internship in Shenzhen companies, especially in those start-up teams. On the other hand, if those students want to start their own businesses, especially in innovative industries, they will spare no efforts to offer them a series of free services including working space, legal advices and other resources.
