Sure to be a hotspot for selfies, the interdisciplinary design collective ‘teamLab’ will put together a dreamy new exhibition consisting of 11 interactive digital installations, five of which are to be exhibited in China for the first time, at the Party Pier Culture and Art Zone, Haizhu District, Guangzhou from April 27th to October 7th this year.
“teamLab: Forest of Life & Future Park” is a large-scale exhibition that is designed to stimulate people’s creativity and collaborative mindsets. The “Future Park” is an interactive, dynamic playground where kids can explore, experiment and play.
Combining art exhibition with futuristic amusement park, this exhibition attracted more than 460,000 visitors when it first opened in Tokyo in 2015. It was ranked among the ‘Top 10 art exhibitions of 2015’ by Designboom.
teamLab has previously held similarly immersive shows in Beijing, Shenzhen and Wuhan, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors.
Toshiyuki Inoko, founder and CEO of teamLab, said at the press conference that he was grateful for Chinese people’s enthusiasm for the exhibition and hoped everyone has chance to experience the ‘charm of innovative technology and culture’. Toshiyuki Inoko and his teamLab studio also presented two interactive, digital art exhibits in the Japan Pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015.
The teamLab exhibition in Guangzhou has been listed as one of the key projects for the 2019 Guangzhou Cultural Industry Fair and one of the high quality projects for 2019 Shangtianhe Culture Season, both of which are major events on the city’s festival calendar.
