The radiation contains a wide spectrum of wavelengths, but our eyes are only sensitive to a part of them. Different wavelengths are associated with different colors. Red is the most visible, followed by orange. At sunset, the light takes a much longer path through the atmosphere and more oranges and reds are seen by our eyes.
