Guangzhou Metro Group and Guangzhou Public Transport Group released a draft of an adjustment to Guangzhou public transport ticket price discounts on Sept 10 and solicit public opinions by Oct 10.
As stated in the draft, current ticket prices will remain, whereas discounts will be calculated according to the amount of money rather than ride frequency as before.
Two adjustment plans to choose:
Plan 1:
According to statistics in 2020, an average passenger pays ¥4.4 for every ride and commutes by metro 50 times each month, the total expenditure of which is ¥220. Under discount plan 1, the passenger can enjoy a discount of 20% after 11 days of metro ride.
Plan 2:
In comparison, plan 2 enables more passengers who ride public transport less frequently to enjoy discounts. An average passenger can have a discount of 10% after 10 days of public transport rides.
Discount coverage:
New discount plans will be implemented in all public transport means operated by Guangzhou Transportation Bureau, including metro, bus, and water ferry. Discount plans in Huadu, Panyu, Nansha, Conghua, and Zengcheng Districts will be drawn up by local authorities.
Discount calculation:
Discounts in different Yang Cheng Tong cards or QR codes of different APP accounts will not be added up. Nor will those in cards and codes be accumulated.
