“Everything is good and just stay positive. It's not that bad.” Amosov Gennady, a Russian businessman living in Liwan District, told GDToday when sharing his experience about the lockdown life in Liwan during this wave of COVID-19 outbreak in Guangzhou.

Gennady feels that the lockdown doesn’t affect his life much, except that he now works from home and stops going out a lot. Every two days, people in the lockdown areas need to take nucleic acid testing. The test starts in the early morning and finishes around seven o’clock at night. Although there are huge lines to do the tests, Gennady thought it was efficient. “They move really fast, it takes me less than 10 minutes to do the test,” he said.

At the beginning of the lockdown, Gennady was a little worried about whether he can get enough food as some stores were empty. However, with the help of e-commerce channels, his doubts were swallowed. Now he can buy food in a WeChat mini-program or the Hema Xiansheng online supermarket. “Starting from yesterday, those official cars came and now you can buy food downstairs in our compound. There is enough food and everybody is pretty organized here.”

Compared to the outbreak last year, Gennady thought the community was more organized this time and he was more positive. “Now there are tests. Now there is vaccine. Now people know what to do. I can see that the number of confirmed cases decreases every day, so I'm pretty sure this thing will be over soon,” Gennady said.
