In detail, the province will take different measures for seven kinds of people engaged in the exam, including examinees who are confirmed cases or tested positive for COVID-19, close contacts or sub-close contacts of COVID-19 patients, examinees having fever, with red or yellow health codes, general and healthy students, social examinees, exam monitors and staff, as well as parents of examinees.

The province has been monitoring the health situations of all students and staff for 14 days before the exam, and requires a nucleic acid test 7 days before the exam. And, all exam staff have been fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines.

Guangzhou now has 2 high-risk areas and 7 medium-risk areas of COVID-19. The city has set up 56 test sites for 549,000 students. And each site has more than 3 alternate exam sites, at least one of which will be used for isolated exam site.

The city has also set up over 20 isolated exam sites with more than 7,000 exam staff for those close contacts or sub-close contacts of COVID-19 patients, said Wang Dong, vice mayor of Guangzhou.

According to the request of epidemic control, examinees living at high-risk areas, Baihedong Street (白鹤洞街), Zhongnan Street (中南街) in Guangzhou's Liwan District, can not take the exam at low- or medium-risk areas.

Students from high-risk areas are required to take exam at Liwan's Pui Ying Secondary School (广州市培英中学), the True Light Middle School (广州市真光中学) and Jindao School (荔湾区金道中学).

According to Guangdong Meteorological Service, thundery rainstorms and scattered heavy rain will sweep the Pearl River Delta region and the western Guangdong during the gaokao days, so examinees are reminded to pay attention to weather reports in advance of their exams.
