The eastern part of Heyuan Xiaoqu (鹤园小区) in Guangzhou’s Liwan district, where one confirmed COVID-19 case lives, was classified as a medium-risk area on May 26, according to the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission.

Previously, Huixin Ge in Guangzhou Liwan's Jinlong Community, Longjin Street (广州市荔湾区龙津街锦龙汇鑫阁) has been elevated to a medium-risk area for COVID-19 since May 22 after a local confirmed case was reported in this area on May 21.

As of 7:00 a.m., May 27, there are no regions with high risk and 24 regions with moderate risk in China, including 2 in Guangzhou's Liwan, 7 in Anhui province, and 15 in Liaoning province.

The cases in Guangzhou are linked to the Indian variant that spreads faster than the previous variants, with an exposure of COVID-19 occurring inside a confined space, according to Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Shenzhen reports four asymptomatic COVID-19 cases

Shenzhen reported four more asymptomatic COVID-19 cases yesterday. Among them, two are imported asymptomatic cases.

The two imported asymptomatic cases are two males of Chinese nationality coming to Shenzhen from Indonesia. They were quarantined upon entry and were later sent to Shenzhen No.3 People's Hospital for treatment. Currently, the patients are in stable condition.

The other two asymptomatic cases are a 54-year-old male surnamed Yang and a 15-year-old male surnamed He. Both of them live in Anliang Community in Yuanshan Subdistrict, Longgang District. Yang is an employee in the factory of Haina Show, while He once visited the factory.

Updates on COVID-19 cases in Guangdong

On May 26, Guangdong reported 2 new cases of local confirmed infection and 4 new asymptomatic cases. The two confirmed cases were reported by Guangzhou, and the asymptomatic cases were reported by Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

Yesterday the province also reported 12 new cases of imported asymptomatic infection, with 1 reported by Guangzhou coming from Democratic Republic of the Congo, 2 by Shenzhen from Indonesia, 2 by Foshan from the USA, and 7 by Zhanjiang from Egypt.

As of midnight yesterday, Guangdong had reported a total of 2,427 cases, including 1,027 imported cases.
