The city's commerce bureau also released a notice about COVID-19 prevention and control in the accommodation and catering industries on May 21, requiring all those who work in the industries should receive COVID-19 vaccine as early as possible and private family gathering should be limited to less than 10 persons.

According to circulars issued by Chinese authorities last year, the principles of safety and steadiness should be implemented in medium and high-risk areas. Activities that call for gathering people should not be organized in principle. For necessary places in work and life and open areas, classified limitations should be adopted. It is suggested entertainment and leisure facilities be shut down to prevent clustering infection, the circulars explained, adding that detailed requirements should be determined in accordance with different local epidemic situations.

Guangdong reports 1 local confirmed & 1 asymptomatic cases on May 21

On May 21, Guangdong reported one new case of local confirmed infection and one new asymptomatic case. The confirmed case was reported by Guangzhou, and the asymptomatic case by Shenzhen.

The province also reported on the same day five new cases of imported confirmed infection and nine new asymptomatic cases. Three confirmed cases, reported by Guangzhou, came from Cameroon, Maldives and Sri Lanka, while the other two, reported by Shenzhen, came from India. And two asymptomatic cases, reported by Guangzhou, came from Italy and Bangladesh, and the other seven were reported by Shenzhen with six from India and one from South Africa.

As of midnight yesterday, Guangdong had reported a total of 2,406 cases, including 1,009 imported cases.

The local asymptomatic case reported by Shenzhen

On May 21, Shenzhen’s Yantian District reported one local asymptomatic case of COVID-19 during their routine testing among workers dealing with international cargoes.

The asymptomatic case Mr. Mu, 44 years old, lives in No. 34 Shagang Xu, Beishan Road, Yantian District, and works in the west work zone of Yantian Port in Shenzhen.

Mr. Mu takes one nucleic acid test for COVID-19 every seven days, and was tested negative for COVID-19 on May 12.

On May 20, Mr. Mu's nucleic acid test for COVID-19 came back positive, and was retested positive by Shenzhen CDC as well. At present, Mr. Mu has been transferred to the Third People's Hospital of Shenzhen for isolation and treatment.

As of now, 54 close contacts have been put under quarantine, and all of them tested negative for the virus. The related venues have been closed down for disinfection.
