Ma Xili has been a wetland ranger in Shenjing Town, Taishan, Jiangmen for 17 years. His daily routine is to patrol the mangrove wetland to clean up trash and watch out for perpetrators.

Low-lying in the Bay of Taishan Town, Jiangmen, Guangdong, with an area of nearly 13 square kilometers, is a vast sea forest, the largest mangrove wetland in the Pearl River Delta region. Every morning, birds fly over the mangrove forest sea, and fishing boats sail near the calm estuary.

There is a group of local people like Ma Xili, a villager living in Shenjing town, who has fulfilled his duty as a common wetland sea forest guardian for many years. Understanding that protecting the mangroves is protecting the local ecosystem now as well as for future generations, the village committee did not sacrifice "this coastal green protective screen" for short-term profits; rather, they let the mangroves grow ripe naturally.

Jiangmen is one of the prefecture-level cities with the richest wetland resources in Guangdong. The abundant mangrove resources form part of the treasure. Wetland parks such as the Bird's Paradise in Xinhui, Kaiping Peacock Lake, "Coast Guard" Taishan Zhenhaiwan Mangroves, and "Oriental Venice" Gulao Water Town are all on-going construction sites meant to boost the local culture and rural development.
