With the advent of spring, Chinese redbuds are found in blossom in Renmin North Road, Yuexiu District of Guangzhou. Walking along this road, you will find yourself embraced by the beautiful pink-and-white petals of bauhinia.

Kapok flower, the city flower of Guangzhou, grows on the tall slim kapok trees everywhere around the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and around the city as well. These flamboyant flowers not only have an aesthetic value but also can function as common and yet healthy ingredients for soup and congee after being dried out.
