GD suspends religious gatherings during CNY across the province

Starting from February 10th to February 26th, all religious venues will be temporarily closed to the public and gatherings will be suspended for epidemic control purposes, according to a notice issued by the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission of Guangdong Province on February 5th.

From February 26th to March 31st, some venues can reopen to the public as required under the normalized prevention and control guidelines of the pandemic, but still no religious gatherings are allowed.

So far, the Buddhist and Taoist associations in Guangzhou, Foshan, Huizhou, and Jieyang have ordered the suspension of all religious venues and gatherings to strengthen epidemic prevention and ensure the security of their believers.

In addition, the Catholic and other Christian churches in Jieyang also made the same announcement on February 3rd.

Catholic Archdiocese of Guangzhou

Closing Time: Starting from February 1st

According to the Islamic Associateion of China, all mosques and temporary places of worship will be closed, all religious activities will be suspended also in order to protect the health & safety of all Muslims, information can be found on the website of Guangzhou Islamic Association (Official Website: http://www.gzislam.com/)

Guangzhou: Guangxiao and Hualin Temple

Closing Time: February 10th - February 26th

Shenzhen: Hongfa Temple

Closing Time: Starting from February 2nd

Shaoguan: Nanhua Temple

Closing Time: February 10th - February 26th

Huizhou: Huangjiatang Catholic Church

Closing Time: Starting from February 1st

Shanwei: Yuanshan, Dingguang, and Jiming Temple

Closing Time: Starting from February 1st

Yunfu: all religious venues in Xinxing County, for instance, Guo’en Temple

Closing Time: Starting from January 22nd
