A cured imported case (arriving from the UK) retested positive after being discharged from hospital. The CDC of Guangzhou’s Haizhu district reported on January 6. However, the case tested negative today (January 7).

Haizhu health authority immediately started emergency response.

Timeline of the case

After epidemiological investigations, close contacts and key populations have been sampled and quarantined. Community investigation and environmental sampling were carried out around the case's residence. Nucleic acid testing results of the above samples were all negative.

The Haizhu District CDC reminds the public to exercise protection measures: wear masks properly, wash hands, keep the room well-ventilated, keep socially distance, and cooperate with health monitoring.
