To celebrate the Winter Solstice, about 20 fans of GDToday participated in the dumpling making event at the revolving restaurant on the 17th floor of Aiqun Hotel on December 19. Guided by a local chef, they learned to make dumplings and shared the happiness with each other. Some fans also wore skirts with traditional Chinese elements to participate in the event.
Winter Solstice, the 22nd solar term of the 24 Solar Terms in China, begins this year on Dec 21 and ends on Jan 4. There is an old saying in China that "The Winter Solstice is as significant as the Spring Festival." On the first day of this solar term, the Winter Solstice Festival, people eat dumplings, glutinous rice balls, mutton soup and other traditional foods to celebrate the day with family and friends.
