On 19th December, the award ceremony in Guangdong, for the Third Cross-Straits Youth Creative Short Film Contest was held at Tai Koo Cang Film Theatre, Guangzhou. Seven awards, including the Best Short Film, were decided based on creativity, visual effect and overall performance under the theme of “Change”.
An award ceremony in Taiwan went on at the same time. Contestants and audiences from the two places said hello and watched each other’s prize-winning films via video chatting.
Appreciated by the judges for its innovative design, profound theme, skillful techniques, outstanding visual effects and narration, the film “Thousands of Star Attractions” won the Best Short Film Award (Guangdong) and took home 45,000 yuan. The creator places the story on an alien planet 100 years in the future, depicting how aliens send dream messengers to Guangzhou to collect dreams due to the lack of dream energy.

About the short film contest
For the preliminary rounds, the Third Cross-Straits Youth Creative Short Film Contest required all participants to submit their 15-180 second short story to show their concept and thoughts of “Change”. 421 and 435 entries respectively, were received online in Guangdong and Taiwan within a month, the highest numbers ever.
The contest was sponsored by Newsgd.com, Southern Metropolis Daily and United Daily News Group, co-organized by N-Video and China Youth New Media Association, with the guidance of Guangdong International Culture Association, Guangdong Province Cross-Strait Exchange Promotion Association, and Guangdong Youth Federation.
