China Enterprises Evaluation Association recently released the 2020 China's Top 500 New Economy Enterprises Development Report and the 2020 China's Top 500 New Economy Enterprises List. According to the report, after Beijing and Shanghai, Shenzhen has ranked third in China's new economy cities with a total of 60 Shenzhen enterprises selected in the list.
New economy is used to describe new, high-growth industries that are on the cutting edge of technology and are believed to be the driving force of economic growth and productivity. Shenzhen has been stepping up efforts to develop its new economy for a long time. It has cultivated a large number of companies with new technologies, new products, new forms of business, and new models, such as advanced manufacturing companies—DJI and UBTECH, the new energy automobile companies—BYD, the new financial companies—WeBank, and the new consumption platform—Lexin.
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, China (Shenzhen) Development Institute also issued a report, New 40 Years, New Enterprises, New Development Force of Shenzhen's Future. The report selected ten innovative brands as representatives of new economy enterprises that will support Shenzhen's development in the next 40 years.
As a new growth driver, the new economy has become an important force to realize the overall transformation and upgrading of the national economy. It has also greatly reduced the systemic risks of the Chinese economy in response to emergencies such as the COVID-19.
