The two intercity railways—Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity and Guangzhou East Ring Intercity—will soon be put into operation, which means that for local residents in Guangzhou, it will only take about half an hour to travel to Qingyuan, a beautiful city in Northern Guangdong.

With a length of 38.2 kilometers, the Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity now has 6 stations, including Huadu, Letong, Shiling, Yinzhan, Longtangzhen, and Qingcheng. While the Guangzhou East Ring Intercity is 22.6 kilometers long with 4 stations, including Huadu, Huachengjie, Huashanzhen, and Baiyun Airport North Railway Station (Intercity). Among them, Huadu Station is the junction of two intercity railways and Guangzhou Metro Line 9. And the Baiyun Airport North Railway Station (Intercity) is an interchange station for Guangzhou Metro Line 3.

Ticket price

The maximum fare for a one-way full-price ticket between Qingcheng Station and Baiyun Airport North Railway Station (Intercity) is 34 yuan. While the minimum fare between two small stations will only cost 5 yuan. Passengers can choose to purchase tickets on 12306, China’s official railway ticketing system, or just use real-name certified Yangchengtong, Lingnantong, National Transportation Card, Guangzhou Metro QR Code or other payment methods.

In addition, the two intercity railways are also equipped with baby rooms, first-aid kits, umbrella rental services, and free mobile phone charging sockets, which are hidden under each row of seats on the train.

What you should know about Qingyuan

1.Qingyuan Chicken

Cantonese people always said that chicken should have its original “chicken flavour”.

In their eyes, Qingyuan chicken is the most chicken-like chicken. They prefer to use fresh and appetizing Qingyuan chickens, which usually have golden skin, smooth meat, and soft bones to make soup or plain chicken.

2.City of rafting

Qingyuan’s Gulongxia International Rafting Stadium (清远古龙峡国际漂流赛场) is a national 4A tourist attraction. It is known as the "King of Rafting" for its largest rafting drop and the most exciting rafting experience in China. It has 6.1 kilometers long with a drop of 378 meters.

3.Jinzi Mountain

Jinzi Mountain is located in Qingyuan’s Yao Autonomous County. It has an extremely steep ladder, which is called "the first ladder in Guangdong". The gradient of the ladder is about 80 degrees, which make it hangs almost vertically on the cliff. Tourists have to use both hands and feet to climb the mountain.

Jinzi Mountain also has an interesting 1200-meter-long forest slide.

4.Glass Bridge

Qingyuan’s has a 250-meter-long glass bridge in Niuyuzui Scenic Spot (牛鱼嘴风景区). Tourists only need to stand on the bridge to have a panoramic view of Niuyuzui Mountain and lush trees under the bridge.
