Italian cuisine, such as pasta, pizza, cheese and other delicacies, is every bit as famous as Cantonese food for its long history of tradition and continuous innovation. They all embody unique cooking skills and great passion for food. Some good news for Guangdong residents is that you can taste the most authentic Italian food in this week!

The 5th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World will run from November 23rd to 29th. This year will focus on the Flavors of the Italian Lands, with a special mention of the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of Pellegrino Artusi, known as the author of the cookbook "Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well", first and most fundamental gastronomy manual of Italy.

The Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou will also hold a series of events in close cooperation with local Italian restaurants and other organizations. Here are some details of all events.

1.Italian Food Festival

Date: November 28th to 29th (this Saturday and Sunday)

Highlights: Pamper your palate with the delicacies and delights of many of the Greater Bay Area’s leading Italian restaurants this week! Look for the special Italian menus offered at participating restaurants, celebrating the cuisine of the Mediterranean Diet.

3.Italian menu @Canadian International School

Date: November 25th

Highlights: The School has a small community of Italian children. In order to let them share with their classmates the culture of Italian Taste, the Consulate General cooperates with the school with a weekly menu dedicated to the benefits of the Mediterranean diet. The Consul General will be at the school on November 25th for a seminar focused on the benefits of an appropriate diet and healthy food.

4.Italian Breakfast @The Canton Residence

Date: November 23rd to 29th

Highlights: La Colazione all’Italiana (breakfast the Italian way) will keep you well fed and full of energy all day long. All you need is an espresso or a cappuccino on the side and you'll feel like you're having breakfast in a little cafe in Italy.

5.Academic Dinner

Date: November 23rd

Highlights: The dinner is organized by Accademia Italiana della Cucina (Italian Academy of Cuisine) at the Italian restaurant "I MATTI BISTROT" in Dongguan. Discover a cuisine that has an ancient historical tradition whose roots date back to the Greek-Roman period.
