On November 18th, the Limburg Province of Belgium Donated Books to the Guangzhou Library to celebrating the 5th Anniversary of friendship between Guangdong and Limburg. An officialy handing over ceremony was held at the Guangzhou Library. Luc Truyens, Consul General of the Belgian Consulate in Guangzhou, and Wang Changqing, Director of the Guangzhou Library both attended the event.
Luc Truyens quoted a Chinese proverb, "When the wind changes, some people build walls and some people build windmills" to describe the friendship between Limburg and Guangdong. He said that more friendly cooperation can be developed with Guangdong in libraries and museums in the future. Before this, Limburg has donated thousands of books to Guangdong, so many that the Guangzhou Library has also set up a special Belgian bookshelf.

After the ceremony, Luc Truyens also visited the International District of Guangzhou Library. He praised that the interior design of the library which contains elements from all over the world. When seeing the books from Belgium, Luc Truyens introduced the contents of the book to the staff with a happy anecdote, "It’s a coincidence that the place recorded in this book is where my grandfather used to work in Belgium."

In June 2015, Limburg Province and Guangdong signed a friendly cooperation agreement. During the past five years, the Guangzhou Library has cooperated with Limburg for a long time. The two provinces have collaborated on a number of projects, such as the exhibition by Jacques Blair. According to Luc Truyens, Hasselt University in Limburg and Guangdong University of Technology have established a cooperation project on future technology. They will have new cooperations in clean technology.
