Guangdong Police have made great progress in fighting criminal cases after a series of special campaigns were launched this year. Police across Guangdong province have detained over 33 thousand suspects, cracking down on over two thousand five hundred criminal gangs and frozen funds over 2.6 billion yuan after 368 special campaigns in the first 10 months of the year.

Public security organs across Guangdong have launched a special campaign called "Hurricane 2020" starting this year and focusing on cases involving telecommunications and internet fraud, wildlife, guns and explosion, theft and robbery as well as pornography, gambling, drug abuse and trafficking, refusal to pay labor remuneration, piracy, economy, Internet, border management, smuggling and other illegal activities, according to Lin Runxiong, Deputy Director-General of the Bureau of Public Security of Guangdong.

As an important part of ‘Hurricane 2020’, major crackdown dealt a heavy blow to criminals involving with illegal immigration. 1313 stowaways were arrested, effectively preventing the epidemic from being imported through illegal entry channels, and helping to maintain normal entry and exit order. According to Wu Shaoqin, Director of the Exit and Entry Bureau of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, 1,133 cases of illegal employment of foreigners were investigated in Guangdong. Organizations and individuals involved in the cases have been fined 10,000-100,000 yuan respectively. In the 653 cases of providing shelter for illegal immigrants, people involved were fined between 2,000-10,000 yuan in accordance with the law.

Furthermore, advances in criminal cases detection related to big data and information technology have made a great impression. According to Huang Hai, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry Public Security, among the 374 homicides detected this year, more than 75% took advantage of new technologies in their detection.
Lin Runxiong said that more special operations will continue to be launched to ensure good sound social order and rule of law in Guangdong.
