As a big agricultural province, Guangdong was once faced with severe non-point source agricultural pollution. However, the pollution control work has borne fruitful results after joining hands with the World Bank in launching projects in some parts of the province.
After participating in the project, Farmers in Boluo County have increased their annual rice yields with the help of low-toxic pesticide and special formula fertilizer for crops. The local water quality has also improved.
With World Bank subsidies and incentives, they have played a very active role in enhancing the local ecological environment. As a result, the non-point source agricultural pollution in the county has been significantly improved with less application of fertilizers and less damaging pesticides.

The Guangdong Pollution Control Project financed by the World Bank was launched in 2014. Boluo County in Huizhou, Dongyuan and Lianping County in Heyuan City, were chosen in Guangdong province to demonstrate the environmentally-friendly crop production and livestock waste management.
The project will be further promoted to 11 more municipalities in Guangdong. In this era of rapid development, we need to protect our environment and rebuild our home. The Non-point Source Agricultural Pollution Control Project was initiated with this goal in mind.
