Goni, the 19th typhoon of the year, is expected to reach the South China Sea today after crashing through the Philippines on Sunday. It will not directly affect Guangdong, but it will bring some cold air from the North to the South, which will slightly reduce temperatures across the province.
In addition, Atsani, the 20th typhoon of the year, is likely to be upgraded from a tropical storm to a super typhoon with a wind scale level of 14 to 16. The storm is gradually developing on the ocean surface off the Eastern Philippines. However, it’s also heading northwestward at a speed of 19 kilometers per hour. In the upcoming few days, it might reach the south China Sea as well or even barrel down the coastal regions in south China.
