The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Guangzhou held an official reception to celebrate Korea's National Foundation Day on October 29th, 2020.
Since Mr. Hong Sung-wook became the Consul General in Guangzhou in May 2018, he has visited many parts of Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and Hainan, which has given him a keen sense of the vitality and dynamic advances in the relations between South China and ROK. "There is a true dynamism," he said.
According to Chen Liangxian, Vice Governor of Guangdong, the province as the top economic player well known for its openness and inclusiveness, has been enjoying strong and sound cooperation with ROK. Bilateral trade between Guangdong and ROK hit 62.46 billion USD in 2019, accounting for 1/4 of the total trade volume between the two countries.
During the COVID-19 outbreak, local governments, business fields and individuals from both China and Korea have fostered bonds through helping each other and the active sharing of medical supplies.
Guangdong is ready to work with Korean counterparts to push forward practical collaboration and share development opportunities with each other, so as to contribute more to the mutually beneficial cooperation and common prosperity of China and ROK in the new era.
"We are working vigorously to promote the development of Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area and to build Shenzhen into a pilot demonstration area for socialism with Chinese characteristics as well as synergizing the development of the two core cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen. All the aforementioned endeavors will bring immense opportunities to the whole world, including ROK," Chen said.
