On September 18th, the 2020 Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Cooperation Executive Chiefs Joint Meeting was held in Sanya, south China's Hainan Province with the theme of "sharing the opportunities of the Hainan Free Trade Port and promoting the joint development of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region".

Governors of nine provinces, namely Fujian, Guangdong, Guizhou, Hainan, Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as well as chief executives of Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR attended the meeting.

Ma Xingrui, Governor of Guangdong, met Yi Lianhong, Governor of Jiangxi, before the meeting, and jointly witnessed a strategic cooperation agreement signed between Guangdong and Jiangxi, and a technological cooperation agreement signed between Guangdong Science and Technology Department and Jiangxi Science and Technology Department.

Ma Xingrui and Chen Wu, Chairman of Guangxi Autonomous Region, jointly held a meeting on pushing forward the development of a Pearl River-West River economic belt, brainstorming for further cooperation in various business sectors.

Ma Xingrui, said Guangdong will follow Xi Jinping’s instruction on boosting regional cooperation, and seize the opportunities brought by the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hainan Free Trade Port. “We will enhance cooperation with Pan Pearl River Development (PPRD) members on economic platforms, infrastructure construction, industry partnerships as well as ecology and tourism. We will also contribute to international cooperation after the pandemic.”

Ma Xingrui also attended High-level Coordination Meeting for the Pearl River shipping industry during the event.

The joint meeting will be hosted by Sichuan next year. And the 13th PPRD Regional Cooperation & Development Forum and Economic & Trade Fair will be held online on September 24th, which can be watched via mainstream online media of the PPRD members.
